Snowy Mountains Climbing School have an office near the bottom of the Thredbo chair.
The rocky outcrop to the right of the top of the Thredbo chair has a surprising number of nooks and crannies and ill easily keep an abseiler amused for a few hours.
Then again, try climbing the Cathedrals in Vic, near Buxton. One of the most accessible rock-climbing areas from Melbourne, it affords some great routes and spectacular views.
