The Snowies are the most beautiful place to do it! All abilities are catered for in the state's premier adventure playground. The Snowies boast some of the best adventure specialist companies in the country, staffed by trained and safety-conscious professionals. Under their watchful eye, the uninitiated can learn how to climb a rock face, abseil into a gorge or try ice-climbing.

Snowy Mountains Climbing School have an office near the bottom of the Thredbo chair.

The rocky outcrop to the right of the top of the Thredbo chair has a surprising number of nooks and crannies and ill easily keep an abseiler amused for a few hours.

Then again, try climbing the Cathedrals in Vic, near Buxton. One of the most accessible rock-climbing areas from Melbourne, it affords some great routes and spectacular views.
